Beogram 4002 (5513): Restoration of the Hood

The final step of the restoration of the Beogram 4002 (5513) that I recently completed was the restoration of the dust cover. As with most Beograms at this point in time the hood needed some TLC and the rubber bumpers replaced. Here is an impression of some of the damages:
As far as scratches go these were not too bad and I was able to get away with a 320 grit sanding step to planarize the plexiglass before polishing it back to a translucent state:
After about 10 polishing steps with ever finer sand paper and polishing cloths the hood was shiny again:
The final step was to replace the rubber bumpers that soften the impact when closing the hood. This shows the broken off bumper on the left side:
I carefully drilled the old degraded rubber remnants out with a 2 mm drill bit
and then installed 2 mm O-ring segments with some superglue gel:
After the glue hardened I cut them to length (~1 mm):
And this concludes the restoration of this Beogram 4002!
